On The Art Of Makeup
The wonder of makeup is that it has the power to transform the way a person feels about themselves. It is a fun and creative tool which can be used to simply enhance a persons natural beauty or to completely alter a persons appearance. Whatever your desired end result might be. There is no right or wrong when it comes to makeup, only preferences. I say that because makeup is a form of art, and art is beauty and beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

On Cosmetic Companies
The first thing women seem to ask me when they find out I'm a makeup artist is what is my favorite brand of cosmetics. They are surprised to find out I don't have a favorite brand. I have found that every cosmetic line has it's outstanding products. If you find something that you like, that works well with your skin type and coloring, who cares what company makes it. How your makeup turns out has far more to do with how well you applied it as opposed to what brand of cosmetics you used.

On Makeup Application
If you wish to become proficient at applying makeup I have 4 suggestions for you.

1) Buy yourself a nice set of brushes and use them.
2) Learn and understand the principals of highlight and shadow.
3) Learn how to apply a *good base. This is what will make your makeup look professional.
*A good base is one that covers all your imperfections but doesn't look like your wearing any concealer, foundation or powder at all.
4) Blend, blend and then blend again.

On Buying Foundation
Do not wear foundation the day you plan to go shopping and put a small hand mirror in your purse or pocket before you go anywhere. When you find a brand of foundation you would like to try, select the color you think matches your skin color best. Now on a small area of your face, one side of your chin or along your jaw line, blend a little of the foundation in. Now go outside! Natural light is the best light to check for a color match. Take out the mirror you put in your purse and check to see what the foundation looks like. Check it in the bright sunlight, and check it in the shade. If you can't see where the foundation begins and ends, you have a good match. If you can see any difference at all, go back into the store and try another shade until you find one that you can't see.
